Project Overview

A comprehensive concept and UX/UI design that was fully implemented as a React Native mobile app, focusing on live homework help, seamless video chat integration via Discord, and AI-driven tutor matching.

The Challenge & Scope

The main goal of the conception phase was to understand the core challenges Lern-Fair faces and define the scope of the mobile application. Students need ad-hoc help with their homework, requiring a seamless video chat integration that is accessible at any time. Furthermore, a mutual feedback system had to be established at the end of each session.

User Stories & Core Features

  • 1. Navigating to Appointments: Users need to easily access their upcoming tutoring sessions. The "Start" tab displays the next upcoming appointment with a direct "Start Video Chat" option. Alternatively, the full list is accessible via the "Appointments" tab.
  • 2. Starting a Video Chat: Users can initiate a video chat session for live homework help. Upon clicking, they are directed to a dedicated video chat page offering options to open Discord directly, copy the Discord link, or view a tutorial video on how to use the server.
  • 3. Giving Feedback: After a session, users can rate their tutor or student. The feedback page allows users to rate various categories from 1-5 stars and view their own average ratings.
  • 4. AI-Driven Scheduling: A standout feature allowing users to schedule appointments using an AI tool. Users distribute priority points across categories like "Politeness" or "Professional Competence" and add custom preferences. The AI analyzes available tutors' profiles and ratings to suggest the perfect match.

Target Audience & Platform

The application primarily addresses tutors and students in a mobile setting. The design carefully considered mobile-specific constraints such as screen size, connectivity, and sensor usage while maintaining an intuitive, distraction-free user flow for both user groups.
